Post 128 and local Legion members honored at Post Meeting

February 26, 2009--Standish, ME

Standish Memorial Post 128 was recently honored to receive a Certificate of Merit signed by National Commander David Rehbein for achieving a 100% membership renewal in 2008.  Receiving the award from Post 128 Commander Carl Henriksen (right) are Adjutant Will Hamliton (center) and Vice Commander Mike Stevens (left).

Post member Bruce Chapman (center) and former 2nd District Commander Bob Morrill (left) also received a Certificate of Appreciation from Post Commander Carl Henriksen for their contributions and efforts to the success of the Post in 2008.

The highlight of the evening belonged to Post member Donald Roy.  Don, a decorated veteran, served in the Army as a combat medic during the Korean War and was honored for his service by Edward Davis, Commander of the Maine Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association.  Below, Don (shaking hands on the left) receives a Certificate of Appreciation (signed by Maine Governor John Baldacci) from Commander Davis, while Don's wife Arlene Roy and Post 128 Commander Carl Henrikson look on.

In addition, Commander Davis also presented Don with two campaign and service medals, as well as a beautiful shadow box complete with Don's service medals, ribbons, rank, and other insignia.

The members of Standish Memorial Post 128 congratulate Donald Roy for his service to our great nation, and are honored to have him as a Post member.
