Post 128 participates in a Memorial Day observance at the Standish Town Hall
May 25, 2009--Standish, ME
Today members of Post 128 observed Memorial Day in a ceremony, sponsored by the Post and the Standish Historical Society, at the Standish Town Hall.
The ceremony began with a greeting from media personality Bud Sawyer, followed by the Presentation of the Colors by local Boy and Cub Scouts (see pictures below), after which the National Anthem was played.

Comments from Post Commander Carl Henrikson followed, along with a prayer from Chaplain Mike Lynch. Then, after patriotic music by bagpiper Jason Plummer and the Standish Congregational Choir, the local Girl Scouts made a presentation, followed by comments from State Representative Mike Shaw and State Senator Bill Diamond.
A wreath was then presented by the Post and the Standish Historical Society, and Taps was played. The ceremony was then concluded after closing comments from Commander Carl Henrikson, Chaplain Mike Lynch, and Adjutant Will Hamilton, followed by the singing of God Bless America.

Music and a live broadcast was provided by Dave Patterson of Local Community Radio WJZF 97.1 FM in Standish, and the program was taped by Saco River Community Television for broadcast at a later date. Sound equipment was provided by the Standish Recreation Department.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the event, and a special note of thanks to the Standish Historical Committee (Joline Webber, Glenna Jamison, and Eleanor Sawyer) and Post Adjutant Will Hamilton for their work in organizing the ceremony.
