Three Students from Bonny Eagle High School selected for the Boys State program

May 28, 2009--Standish, ME

Bonny Eagle High School (BEHS) students Robert Michaud, Eliot Douin, and Tyler Ruby have been selected by Post 128 to attend the 62nd annual American Legion Dirigo Boys State program to be held at Thomas College in Waterville during the week of June 21-25, 2009.

The purpose of Boys State is to provide Maine high school juniors with the opportunity to participate in a program that supplements their high school courses in government and its functions.  In this program, young men role-play as they learn to campaign for local, county, and state offices and then organize and carry out the functions of the state government.

The students were nominated by the faculty at BEHS and selected by Post 128 because they have demonstrated above their peers the desired qualities of leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty, and service to their school and community.

A special note of thanks to the Standish Kiwanis and Norway Savings Bank for again contributing funds this year to sponsor these deserving young men.

Congratulations to Robert, Eliot, and Tyler!
