Post 128 participates in the Standish Family Festival activities
June 27-28, 2008--Standish, ME
Post 128 helped to start the festivities for the Standish Family Festival on Friday, June 27, by sponsoring
Chandler's Band, the nation's 2nd oldest professional band in continuous service. The band was originally scheduled to play at the Standish Memorial Park at 6:30 p.m., but due to inclement weather the event was swiftly moved to the gym at the George E. Jack school. Below, the band performs one of its many patriotic numbers for an appreciative audience. Post 128 extends a heartfelt thank you to Chandler's Band for their time, and for a rousing concert.
Then on Saturday morning, June 28, several members of Post 128 rode in the Festival Parade that traveled west on Route 25 through Standish Village. Post Service Officer Albert Springer lead our contingent on his ATV, followed by Post members riding in two brand new pickup trucks supplied by
Sebago Lake Chevrolet for the parade. Below, in a truck driven by Finance Officer James Clay, Post member Bruce Roubo tosses candy to the many youths who lined the parade route. A fun time was had by all!
