Post 128 observes Armed Forces Day with a community event and presentations
May 21, 2011--Standish, ME
Post 128, in conjunction with other civic groups, armed services organizations, and local businesses, held an Armed Forces Day observance on Saturday, May 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Post Home. The event was held to recognize and honor local families with members currently serving in the military. Blue Star banners were presented to seven families, and representatives from the Air National Guard, Veterans Administration, and the Legion Auxilliary were in attendance.
Also present were the Standish Town Manager, members of the Standish Kiwanis, and State Representative Mike Shaw. Excellent music was provided during the day by the Dave Fernald Band.
The Standish Fire Department displayed some of their equipment, giving bucket rides to a lucky few.
Post 128 would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time, participated in, and attended this worthwhile event. We would especially like to acknowledge Sergeant At Arms Bruce Roubo for his second year of organizing and spearheading this event.
